TED Talk Thursday – TEDxAustin – Craig Hella Johnson

For those of you not familiar with TED Talks here is a brief summery of them from www.ted.com:

“TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences — the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Oxford UK each summer — TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and Open TV Project, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize”

This week’s talk is from someone I happen to know, Craig Hella Johnson, who spoke recently at TEDxAustin. In this hybrid talk and performance, Craig, director of the multi-Grammy-winning choir, Conspirare, invites us to reconnect with what makes us sing and rediscover what is beyond measure within each of us.

Enjoy!

TED Talk Thursday – Will Hewett – Singing Yourself Alive

According to TEDxTalks:

“Vocalist and improviser Will Hewett explores the language of sound beneath words. After singing 15 minutes every day for a year, Will Hewett describes–and sings–what he learned about commitment and the ability of a simple creative practice to open us to vibrancy, and to a deeper connection with ourselves and the world around us.”

“In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.”

Enjoy this entertaining presentation!

Is Handel Rolling Over in His Grave or LOL?

As a former choral director, someone who has both sung and conducted the Halleluia Chorus, I think the video below is the most entertaining rendition I have ever seen. I’m LOL. I hope you will, too.
