Ajna Mandala
The sixth chakra is known as the third eye chakra and it is located in the middle of the forehead linking the eyebrows. In ancient Sanskrit, it is depicted by the indigo Ajna mandala which translates as “command center.” Its energy bestows us with the supernatural ability of clairvoyance, a higher sensory perception to “see” events and images pertaining to the past, present, or future. The third eye allows us to “remote view” other places or people without physically being there.
When the third eye chakra is blocked, it will affect the physical body through lack of concentration, headaches, confusion, psychological disorders, anxiety, and panic attacks. We will be pushovers, allow other people to trample all over us, take advantage of us, and may not feel ourselves to be worthy of success in our own right.
An imbalanced third eye chakra will prevent us from “seeing” things that are right in front of us, such as solutions to our problems or ailments. In simpler terms, we will be in denial of what is, repressing what needs to be addressed, and live our lives being continually deceived by others. As a result, our lives may become chaotic and disorganized. Co-dependency on other people may become a problem and we will either hop from one miserable relationship to another, or we will stay firmly attached to an abusive partner for a very long period of time.
When the third eye chakra is healed, however, we will be able to see 360 degrees in all directions, figuratively speaking. We will have foresight, insight, and high-powered perception into people, issues, and events. We will know what to do, the right way to do it, and the perfect time to do it. It’s as if we become perfectly aligned with the universe’s will. Our intuitive powers are greatly enhanced and we will be able to see things before they happen.
A clear and balanced third eye chakra bestows us with creative imagination, visualization, and innovation. Our concentrative powers are greatly enhanced. The left brain becomes balanced with the right brain. And finally, we don’t allow others to push us around, we draw a line in the sand where no one is allowed to cross. We are no longer dependent on others to support us either financially or emotionally. Independence becomes our new shield in life.
Unblocking and balancing methods to help realign the third eye chakra include lying flat and placing a crystal over the third eye. Visualize indigo light or flame whilst meditating can also help rebalance this chakra. Herbs for healing are: sandalwood, elecampane, echinacea, eggplant, and ginseng. Healing aromatherapy include: gardenia, lavender, and rosemary. Healing incenses are: sandalwood, mugwort, star anise, saffron and acacia. Healing crystals: lapis lazuli, azurite, fluorite, sodalite, quartz crystal, sapphire and indicolite tourmaline.

Vishuddha Mandala
The fifth chakra is located at the base of the neck in the throat and is therefore known as the throat chakra. In ancient Sanskrit, it is depicted as the blue Vishuddha mandala which translates as “purity.” Its element is ether and is symbolized by the human being. Its influences include communication, dreaming, artistic expression, self belief, knowledge, discernment, truth, justice, claircognizance, and clairaudience. In the physical body, the throat chakra affects the mouth, teeth, throat, thyroid gland, and the endocrine system.
If the throat chakra is imbalanced, the physical body can come down with chronic throat soreness, ear infections or aches, chronic colds and sinus problems, hypothyroid or hyperthyroid disease, chronic fatigue, and depression. If this energy flowing from this chakra is blocked, our ability to communicate our ideas and/or feelings will be inhibited or distorted. People will misunderstand us or we will embarrass ourselves by speaking too much about subjects we know very little about. We will tend to have “foot in mouth disease,” and be seen as crass, undiplomatic, and rude in the way we communicate to others. People may find us to be overcritical, blunt, and offensive.
When the throat chakra is balanced, however, our communication skills are greatly enhanced and refined. We are seen as erudite, literate, studious and someone who “knows what they’re talking about.” We become self-educated, absorbing every means of information that we can on issues that we speak about, and understand that if we haven’t done our homework about a particular topic, we keep our big mouth’s shut.
When the energy is flowing smoothly, this chakra allows us to meditate very deeply and receive communication (audibly) from the higher planes. We become channels and automatic writers who can receive audible messages from the other side for the benefit of humanity. Claircognizance, the higher sense of intuiting knowledge, is an attribute amongst people who have very healthy throat chakras. They simply “know” things to be true without any prior study of it.
There are many modalities for unblocking and balancing the throat chakra. A spiritual counselor can help. Meditating outside close to nature – at night – as well as practicing yoga or tai chi are excellent ways to open up this chakra. Herbs for healing include Cloves, Eugenia, and Vervain. Crystals for healing are: turquoise, chrysocolla, chalcedony, blue sapphire, celestite, blue topaz, sodalite, lapis lazuli, aquamarine, azurite and kyanite. Incenses to burn are: Frankincense and Benzion.

Anahata Mandala
The fourth chakra is the heart chakra and is located in the exact center of the breast cage or chest. In Sanskrit it is represented by the Anahata Mandala which translates as “un-struck sound.” It is symbolized by four-legged mammals. The lower three chakras related to egoic energy and the higher three chakras relate to the higher self energy and its connectedness with Source consciousness. The heart chakra is the focal point where these to realms converge. It acts as a bridge between the lower self (ego) and the higher self (spirit).
When the heart chakra is in need of healing, the physical diseases will consist of lung, circulatory, or heart problems. We will feel dejected, unloved, unappreciated, uncared for, and will play the role of the martyr. We will not be able to receive or give love on an unconditional level. Love given outward always comes with a tether to something expected back in return. Therefore we fail in intimate relationships, intimate friendships, and end up feeling pretty lonely and disconnected in life.
Sometimes when this chakra is blocked, we may have been abandoned as children and then this same behavioral construct repeats itself throughout our life until we are able to forgive. With forgiveness comes acceptance to what already is. And it frees us from the bondage of our loneliness. Only through the act of forgiving those who have hurt us so deeply can the heart chakra be freed, and its true power released.
When the heart chakra is balanced, we will be exercising great compassion toward every human being and will be loving everyone in our lives unconditionally. In fact, we love and accept life unconditionally, no matter what challenge or situation it brings to us. This is known as living in the Now. Our lives take on new meaning because we understand the truth behind the aphorism; “You have to give to receive.” As a result, we become philanthropists, activists, and pursuers of altruistic endeavors. If we’re not helping others in some way, we’re simply not interested in spending the time and energy to do it.
A Spiritual Counselor can help to advise you on the proper tools and modalities for healing the heart chakra. The flowers and essential oils are: all green flowers or pink flowers, grass, clover, pine wood, ylang ylang, patchouli, peppermint, tea tree, neroli, jasmine, rose geranium, rose oil. The crystals for healing are: emerald, jade, rose quartz, green adventurine, agate, malachite, tourmaline, and dioptase.
