According to TED.com: “Musician and inventor Onyx Ashanti demonstrates “beatjazz” — his music created with two handheld controllers, an iPhone and a mouthpiece, and played with the entire body. At TED’s Full Spectrum Auditions, after locking in his beats and loops, he plays a 3-minute song that shares his vision for the future of music.”
“Onyx Ashanti is a musician, geek, open-source advocate, Maker, collaborator … and we come back around again to musician. The intrumentation he has created fuses technique and technology into a full-body musical system, playable with hands, arms, mouth and body. As he says:
I am what can only be described as a cyborg musician. in other words, the music i create live, can not be replicated without technology. My music is called “Beatjazz.” It is a mix of sound design, live looping and jazz improvisation. My instrument of choice over the years has been a Yamaha Wind MIDI controller, but now the limitations have started to stunt the growth of this new form, so i designed an instrument that can take it into future.
He is now working on the next iteration of his instrument, codenamed Tron, and built around a helmet-mounted controller.”

He hopes his films can help people see their own cultures in a new way, to make young people say: “Whoa, my grandfather is as cool as Beyoncé.” Followed by a mesmerizing performance by jazz icon Naná Vasconcelos.”
“Vincent Moon rose to acclaim through the Take Away Show, a blog showcasing his videos of indie rock musicians ranging from The National to REM, shot in intimate (and often unusual) locations with camera phones and other everyday technologies.
In 2008, Moon embarked on a worldwide journey with only the possessions and video tools he could carry on his back, eschewing profit and a traditional career for a nomadic lifestyle. He has wandered from Central Europe through Africa and into Northern Brazil, documenting and filming traditional music and sacred traditions for his Creative Commons web publishing initiative, Collection Petites Planètes.”

According to TED.com: “In a highly entertaining performance, beatboxer Tom Thum slings beats, comedy and a mouthful of instrumental impersonations into 11 minutes of creativity and fun that will make you smile.”
“Coming out of the small Brisbane, Australia, hip-hop scene, Tom Thum has become a world presence with his unhuman beatboxing sound. In 2005, he and Joel Turner won the team battle in the World Beatbox Championships, and Thum came second at the Scribble Jam Beatbox Battles, America’s most prestigious hip-hop competition, in 2006. He’s a cast member in the hip-hop/circus performance troupe Tom Tom Crew, appearing on Broadway and London’s West End.”
