According to TED.com: “The ten women in this chorus have all been sentenced to life in prison. They share a moving song about their experiences — one that reveals their hopes, regrets and fears. “I’m not an angel,” sings one, “but I’m not the devil.” Filmed at an independent TEDx event inside Muncy State Prison, it’s a rare and poignant look inside the world of people imprisoned with no hope of parole.”
“The Lady Lifers are a chorus of women serving life sentences in Muncy State Prison in Pennsylvania. While they are often known by their inmate numbers, they also have names: Brenda Watkins, Dannielle Hadley, Debra Lee Brown, Theresa Battles, Diane Metzger, Thelma Nichols, Joann Butler, Lena Brown, Trina Garnett, Naomi Blount. Together, they sing about their hopes and fears, including the very real possibility that they may die alone in prison.”
The words to their song “This is Not My Home” by Howard Woodring. Music by Naomi Blount. Very moving.
For those of you not familiar with TED Talks here is a brief summery from www.ted.com: “TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences — the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Oxford UK each summer — TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and Open TV Project, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize”
While I usually post a TED Talk on Thursday, this week I just had to introduce you to a technology that is not only on someone’s drawing board, but in production and testing. This is an amazing product. We could soon have Solar Freakin’ Roadways.
Scott Brusaw did give a TED Talk on this new solar technology in 2010 at TEDxSacramento which you can view at https://youtu.be/nvWTaqUvsfA, but now it is 5 years later and the dream is becoming a reality so I chose to share a more recent video I saw on Facebook. Please watch this video! You will be amazed!

According to TED.com: “With scissors and paper, artist Béatrice Coron creates intricate worlds, cities and countries, heavens and hells. Striding onstage in a glorious cape cut from Tyvek, she describes her creative process and the way her stories develop from snips and slices.”
“Béatrice Coron has developed a language of storytelling by papercutting multi-layered stories. Coron’s oeuvre includes illustration, book arts, fine art and public art. She cuts her characteristic silhouette designs in paper and Tyvek. She also creates works in stone, glass, metal, rubber, stained glass and digital media.”
Enjoy this unique woman and her beautiful creations.
