Continuing on the theme of digital mandalas that we started last week, I have another Photoshop tutorial on making mandalas by ohitstay. This is a simple way to create a mandala using duplication and blending modes. Enjoy!
According to TED.com: “Swiss artist and photographer Fabian Oefner is on a mission to make eye-catching art from everyday science. In this charming talk, he shows off some recent psychedelic images, including photographs of crystals as they interact with soundwaves. And, in a live demo, he shows what really happens when you mix paint with magnetic liquid—or when you set fire to whiskey.”
“Fabian Oefner is a photographer and artist who wants to blend the disciplines of art and science. His psychedelic images capture natural phenomena and present them in unique and eye-catching ways. To date, subjects have included sound waves, iridescence, even magnetic ferroliquids and fire. His aim: to create images that appeal to both a viewer’s heart and brain. ”
Beautiful! Enjoy!
For those of you not familiar with TED Talks here is a brief summery from www.ted.com: “TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences — the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Oxford UK each summer — TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and Open TV Project, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize”
We’ve explored many techniques for creating mandalas, but I’ve never done posts on how to create them on a computer (other than the post on how I create my own, “The Magic of Mandala Making – Living Art“) so I when searching on Youtube for tutorials on digital mandala making. Today I’ve got 2 tutorials by Will Currier on creating mandalas in Photoshop. Enjoy!
