Mandala Monday Meditation – What is Peace?

Today I have one of my Free Mandala Meditations for you. In this time of such apparent chaos in the world, sometimes it is useful to ask yourself, just what is peace?

TED Talk Thursdays – Pattie Maes and Pranav Mistry demo SixthSense

For those of you not familiar with TED Talks here is a brief summery of them from www.ted.com:

TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences — the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Oxford UK each summer — TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and Open TV Project, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.

I’ve been focusing the last few weeks on the creative arts, and this week would like to share with you creativity of another sort. According to ted.com:

This demo — from Pattie Maes’ lab at MIT, spearheaded by Pranav Mistry — was the buzz of TED. It’s a wearable device with a projector that paves the way for profound interaction with our environment. Imagine “Minority Report” and then some.

The inventor of this technology is MIT student Pranav Mistry. Sit back and enjoy. I think you’ll find this fascinating.

If you’d like to explore this further there is another TED Talk by Pranav Mistry at: http://www.ted.com/talks/pranav_mistry_the_thrilling_potential_of_sixthsense_technology.html

TED Talk Thursdays – The LXD: In the Internet age, dance evolves

According to TED.com: For those of you not familiar with TED Talks here is a brief summery of them from www.ted.com:

TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences — the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Oxford UK each summer — TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and Open TV Project, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.

I’ve been an avid fan of the TV show “So You Think You Can Dance” since it’s second season (not sure how I missed out on the first). Through this show I have not only expanded my appreciation of traditional dance forms, but I’ve learned about and come to love the many forms of “street dance” that are spreading across the planet. Human creativity seems to have no limit and when I saw this post on TED, I knew I had to share it with you.

According to TED:

The LXD (the Legion of Extraordinary Dancers) electrify the TED2010 stage with an emerging global street-dance culture, revved up by the Internet. In a preview of Jon Chu’s upcoming Web series, this astonishing troupe show off their superpowers.

The LXD (the Legion of Extraordinary Dancers) are building an interactive web series that represents the next evolution of dance.  Homepage: thelxd.com

Enjoy!
