According to ted.com: “Gever Tulley uses engaging photos and footage to demonstrate the valuable lessons kids learn at his Tinkering School. When given tools, materials and guidance, these young imaginations run wild and creative problem-solving takes over to build unique boats, bridges and even a roller coaster!”
“A software engineer, Gever Tulley is the co-founder of the Tinkering School, a weeklong camp where lucky kids get to play with their very own power tools. He’s interested in helping kids learn how to build, solve problems, use new materials and hack old ones for new purposes. He’s also a certified paragliding instructor.”
Enjoy!
For those of you not familiar with TED Talks here is a brief summery from www.ted.com:
“TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences — the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Oxford UK each summer — TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and Open TV Project, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize”

Last week we viewed a few mandala pendants and this week I’ve picked out some mandala rings for your pleasure. Esty seems to be the place that comes up first in searching for handmade jewelry so again I have picked a few samples from there. If you know of other jewelry sites with mandala rings please feel free to list them in the comments section.
Above is Star Mandala Ring by StumblingOnSainthood

And here is Tribal Etched Brass and Cooper Mandala Ring by Cuprum29

And finally, Eastern Mandala Ring by ThePendantQueen
These are, again, just the tip of a huge iceberg of mandala rings available on the web. Please feel free to list links to your favorites in the comments section.

According to ted.com: “While studying for his PhD in physics, Uri Alon thought he was a failure because all his research paths led to dead ends. But, with the help of improv theater, he came to realize that there could be joy in getting lost. A call for scientists to stop thinking of research as a direct line from question to answer, but as something more creative. It’s a message that will resonate, no matter what your field.”
“Uri Alon studies how cells work, using an array of tools (including improv theater) to understand the biological circuits that perform the functions of life. In Alon’s lab, students use tools from physics, neurobiology and computer science — and concepts from improv theatre — to study basic principles of interactions.”
Enjoy!
